Q: Why are LEDs thought to be more efficient than conventional light sources?

      A: When comparing lumen output between LEDs and conventional light sources, LEDs may have lower lumen values in many cases. However, LEDs are directional light sources, and all lumens emitted from the LEDs point to the task area. Instead, a traditional light source emits light in all directions and then uses an optical system such as mirrors and lenses to modulate it in a given direction. The amount of lumens falling into the desired task area of the LED light source is greater than that of the traditional light source.
